I have no idea how I found this band, but I have the original vinyl that was released in '88 with the original tack list. Not even sure I would call it Heavy Metal, but it's fantastic regardless.

I remember immediately noticing how not just the sound and style, but even the song order almost exactly mirrored Bad Company's first album, with "Indian Warrior" at the end of the record just as "Seagull" is at the end of Bad Company.

Whenever I played this record, everyone I knew commented on how good it was, but nobody had ever heard of them and they never seemed to get any traction in the U.S. I think it was a case of the right music at the wrong time. In the U.S., there was a major shift to Alt-Rock and this album really was a throwback to music of the 70's, like Bad Co and Zeppelin. And once Grunge came along in the mid-nineties, there was little chance that these guys or anyone like them would ever get any air time, since Alt-Rock and Grunge was where the money was.

It's really too bad, Hannu Leiden has an amazing voice reminiscent of Paul Rodgers, and the entire band hits really hard with some great guitar work by Markku Heiskanen.

Anyway, I really appreciate you guys representing Havana Black here. It's an awesome throwback and few have heard of them, so I hope people come here and get turned on to some excellent, kick-ass music...
